Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s a breakdown of the key ingredients for this Pizza Sliders recipe, along with tips and substitution ideas:
| Ingredient | Swaps or Tips |
|---|---|
| Hawaiian Rolls | Opt for a fresh, soft package. The fluffier, the better! |
| Mozzarella Cheese | Shredding your own mozzarella ensures the best, meltiest results. |
| Pepperoni | Deli-sliced pepperoni offers a richer, more pronounced flavor. |
| Pizza Sauce | Choose a thick, flavorful brand you love. Rao’s pizza sauce is a personal favorite. You can also make your own for a truly customized flavor. |
| Butter | Unsalted butter helps control the overall saltiness of the sliders. |
| Italian Seasoning & Garlic Powder | Customize the herb profile to your liking! Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat or extra oregano for a more intense herbal aroma. Dried minced onion is also a great addition to the butter mixture. |

How to Make Pizza Sliders: Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these easy steps to create your own batch of irresistible Pizza Sliders:
- Prep Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray. This prevents the sliders from sticking and ensures easy removal.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a small saucepan over low heat. Once melted, whisk in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, dried minced onion, salt, and pepper. This creates the flavorful base for the slider topping.
- Assemble Bottom Layer: Carefully slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls attached. This creates a single bottom layer and a single top layer. Brush the insides of both the top and bottom halves of the rolls with approximately half of the prepared butter mixture. This adds flavor and helps create a golden-brown crust.
- Add Filling: Now, layer the toppings on the bottom half of the rolls. Start with half of the mozzarella cheese slices, followed by half of the pepperoni slices, then spread the pizza sauce evenly over the pepperoni. Add the remaining pepperoni slices and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese slices. Be generous with the toppings – this is where the flavor comes from!
- Top Layer and Bake: Carefully place the top half of the rolls onto the layered ingredients. Brush the top and sides of the rolls generously with the remaining butter mixture. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye on them during this final baking stage to prevent burning.
- Cool and Enjoy: Let the Pizza Sliders cool slightly before slicing into individual sliders. Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, savory goodness!

What to Serve With Pizza Sliders
These Pizza Sliders are delicious on their own, but they’re even better when paired with complementary sides. Here are some of my favorite options:
- Caesar Salad: A classic choice that complements the pizza flavors perfectly. The creamy dressing and crisp lettuce provide a refreshing contrast to the richness of the sliders.
- Veggie Sticks and Dip: A simple and healthy option that adds a touch of freshness. Carrots, celery, cucumbers, and bell peppers pair well with a creamy ranch or hummus dip.
- Roasted Sweet Potatoes: A warm, slightly sweet side dish that adds a comforting element to the meal. The roasted sweet potatoes provide a nice textural contrast to the soft sliders.
- Caprese Salad: A fresh and vibrant salad featuring ripe tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil. The bright, clean flavors of the Caprese salad complement the savory richness of the pizza sliders.
- Coleslaw: A refreshing and crunchy side dish that adds a cool element to the meal. The coleslaw provides a nice textural contrast to the soft sliders.
- Italian Pasta Salad: A chilled pasta salad loaded with vegetables and Italian dressing. The pasta salad is a substantial side dish that makes for a complete and satisfying meal.

Storing Leftover Pizza Sliders
While these Pizza Sliders are best enjoyed fresh, they’re still delicious as leftovers! Proper storage is key to maintaining their quality.
- Refrigerate: Allow the sliders to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep for 3-5 days.
- Reheat: For the best results, reheat the sliders in the oven or air fryer until heated through. This will help to maintain their crispy crust and melty cheese. I don’t recommend microwaving them, as this can make the rolls soggy.

Pizza Sliders Recipe
Gooey, cheesy Pizza Sliders: soft rolls filled with mozzarella, pepperoni, and pizza sauce, topped with garlic-herb butter.
Equipment
- Sheet pan (15″ x 10″) 9 x 13-inch
- Aluminum foil
Ingredients
Cooking spray
12-count package Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls see note 1
12 slices mozzarella cheese or 6 slices mozzarella and 6 slices provolone
4 ounces pepperoni 24 large slices or 48 smaller, see note 2
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese optional
8 tablespoons unsalted butter
1-1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9×13-inch sheet pan.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in remaining ingredients listed under “butter.”
Carefully slice the entire block of Hawaiian Rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls attached (see note 1). Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared pan. Brush 2-1/2 tablespoons of the prepared butter mixture onto the cut sides of both the top and bottom halves of the rolls. (So you’ll use a total of 5 tbsp butter).
Layer in the following order: 6 cheese slices, 12 pepperonis, pizza sauce, 12 more pepperonis, 6 remaining cheese slices. Do not add top slab of rolls yet. Bake, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
Remove pan from oven and place top half of the rolls onto the sliders. Brush the top and sides of the rolls generously with the remaining butter mixture. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan on top. Cover pan with foil and bake 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Serve hot, cutting into individual sliders.
Recipe Notes
Note 1: Keep the rolls intact and slice in half horizontally:

Note 2: I prefer deli-sliced pepperoni. It’s larger, so you’ll only need about 24 pieces. If using smaller, packaged pepperonis, you’ll need about 48. Feel free to adjust the quantity to your preference.
Store: Store cooled Pizza Sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–5 days. Reheat them in the oven or air fryer until heated through. (I don’t recommend microwaving).
